do 429 motors have directional pistons and if so is weight inside or out ? Im not used 2 a hotrod motor maybe its the cam im hearing lol Motor was just rebuilt. Thx Rick
I believe all v-8 pistons have offset pins. There should be a notch or a arrow pointing to the front. If you put one in backwards it will have a nock / rattle at highway speeds.
also if i have 2 pull motor apart again.Just so i dont have 2 do this again lol .Rod caps have a arrow also so all i have 2 do is make sure rod cap arrow and piston notch is pointed at front and im ok right ? Thx

Just for the record, not all V-8's have offset pins, but the 429/460's do!

I would make sure the rod and piston are not in backwards. There are #'s on the side of the rods for the bore / throw that their supposed to be in.The #'s should be facing out looking at them with the pan off.
If all the #'s are facing out on the rods and the notch / arrow on the piston is facing to the rear, then the piston is on the rod backwards.
Just out of curiousity.... Who assembled the rotating assembly? And to add to Mark A. comment, one side of the connecting rod will have a beveled/rounded egde while the other is a 90 degree/flat endge. The flat edge is for both conrods to swing while next to one another. The #'s are for what position it was assembled in. Not all conrod caps are marked from the factory. But the stamping is to help you reinstall the right cap on the rod for inspecting the bearings.
