It's been a while since I had to replace mine, but I think they ran about $8 a piece. Normal tools should be able to remove them. A quick test with them installed is with a test light. Hook the test light to the battery and touch the electrical tip of the glow plug. If the test light "lights" it's probably good. If it doesn't "light" it is definitely bad. Hope this helps.
I use a 1/4" drive 3/8" deep socket with a universal and a couple of different length extensions. You will be talking to yourself changing the ones under the turbo.
A neat socket I saw somewhere had a hex made on the top so it could be turned with a wrench. That looked like it would work well for the under turbo plugs. But as it would have to be, I saw it when I did not have a turbo, now I have one and can not find it again.
If you have a good ohm meter the plugs should read about 2 ohms each with a cold engine.
The test light will find most of the bad plugs, but if it shorted to the case when it burnt the light will light but the plug is no good.
Motorcraft/Beru plugs can be had at Autozone for around 10 dollars each, don't put the other kinds in there, they will cause you headaches later.
I rewired my plugs to the switch and it hasnt been starting worth a dam, I think I have a bad plug. Im going to try to spend 80 bucks on all new Motocraft GPs to see if it helps.
