gear selector

I have a 99 f-150 super cab w/4.6, 4x4 manual shift w/ auto trans. My question is can the gear selector indicater be adjusted. Mine is about 1 position off. Remember, keep it simple, used to the old style trucks and manual tranny, besides that I live in Oklahoma!! Thanks for the help

If you remove the covers on the steering column behind the wheel you will be able to see the cable that runs from the shifter to the indicator. Quite often the bracket on the cable that holds it to the column is broken and then you won't be able to line it up.
If it's not broken you can turn the little adjuster wheel that is near the same bracket to adjust the cable which moves where the needle points to.

Like Racerguy said-sometimes they break. Mine did. A zip-tie did the trick though. I pulled the cable down until the selector lined up and then I zip-tied it into place to keep the tension on it.
