defroster problem

My 2001 X defroster just started to not operate. I removed the glove box to access the components and I see that the vacuum operates the damper and the blend door operates the temperature ok. The bottom and dash ducts blow air but the defoster will not operate. Is there anything else to check? Please help...thanks JOHN

If I remember correctly there are two actuators, one for temp and one for doors. They are prone to going out on all Ford vehicles and you can't see the second one on some vehicles.

I found the problem. The defroster actuator is under the dash and the floor actuator is befind the glove box along with the blend door actuator. I removed the trash hook and can reach it to check it. It moves one way but to move the damper for defost it wasn't strong enough. Seems like the damper door moves smoothly. I am leaving it in the defrost position until I get a new vacuum gadget. Thanks JOHN
