As far as electrical goes myself and JIMRIETZ posted some information about installing a throttle control (high idle) in super duty trucks. Jim's was for 2005's, mine was for 2004 and below to about '99. This info. is in "Engine Idle Control". Tim, do you want to pull the info. that you want from there, or do you want me to enter detailed instructions for the part I did right here? Glad to help with the little stuff I know, Mat
Here is an idea for the tech folder. How about doing a recap on the 13.5qt vs. 15 qt. situation. You could add the technical bulletin from Ford. Informative, technical and practical. Another one would be gauge installation how-tos .
BTW what would you think about a sticky on gizmos, gadgets, and products for the truck. For example the Fumoto Valve, Alarms, Remote starters, Gauges, Mud flaps, filters etc... and link it to threads that have dealt with the subject?? We would benefit from the regularly updated info, help one another find the cheapest price, and maybe help Ken in the process .

I just looked at the changing oil procedure. Man, how did I miss not mentioning the 13.5 quarts and the service bulletin in that procedure. I did mention the fumoto valve at the end of that one. I will modify it.
OK, I fixed the oil change procedure and added the part about refilling with 13.5 quarts oil. Also added the reference to the Ford service bulletin on checking the oil level . The reference to Fumoto Valve was in there.
Thanks.... I am sure other newbies like me will find it extremely useful to have all the most important information centralized.
Oh yeah!! Mud Flaps = Mud Guards. I had a hard time finding expert opinion on who made the best and cheapest mud flaps. I know that most people will never quite have use for them, but as for me (in south Louisiana), when it is sugar cane harvest season, you end up slinging mud all over the side and rear of the truck and since I have the tubular side step on the truck it gets mighty slippery. After much reading on this site and another one, I was directed to chat with the nice people at anythingtruck.com, whom carry the Husky liners. I have just received and they not only fit like a charm but were cheap as dirt compared to the ones I could find locally. they were $29 a set and that includes shipping .
My suggestion to have a sticky for gizmos and gadgets may not be in the right forum but I really value the opinion of the regulars on this one (6.0L)(eventhough I see some of you guys on the other one (the generic Superduty forum). Nonetheless, it would be nice to have a quick reference regarding dudads to put on the truck. I was going to suggest to put the Superchip and Predator stickies under that category but, well you know!!!
I notice that one question that keeps appearing is the question of how long do you let the truck cool down before shutting it off, and even better, how long do i have to let the truck warm up..stuff like that..maybe call it general diesel or something like that and maybe post links for guages that would help with these situations...just a thought.
Here is my attempt to contribute and send this link back to the front.
I think it would be a nice idea to modify the tech folder to add the tools necessary for the job. Heavy duty modification but it seems that questions arise often enough to warrant the mod (for example there is a thread right now asking the question what is the socket size for the oil drain plug on a 6.0L. The folder contains the 36mm socket size for the filter but makes no mention of the 19mm for the oil drain plug.)
