Actually 96, we're only guessing that the tapping noise you describe is the tapping noise we think it is. And telling you to run thicker oil may not fix the problem if, perhaps, you really have something else wrong with your truck and it really needs a better looking at. As I said, we can only guess at what the noise is because we're not there to hear it.
If, however, it IS that noise than just because a motor is noisy doesn't mean it can be fixed. My brand new Kawasaki Z1000's valves tap like an M/F!!! I mean, talk about a loud motor. But hey, that's Kawi for ya and there's nothing wrong with the motor, that's just how it sounds. Motors make alot of funny noises if you listen hard enough.
But, if you're really worried about it, have Ford do a compression test on it.
