Transmission hesitation

Transmission hesitation
Good morning,
I have a 94 2WD Ranger XLT with a 3.0 V6 and a 4 speed automatic transmission. About 3 months ago (~80K miles) the transmission began to hesitate once the gas was applied. I had the filter replaced and the coolant flushed. The problem continued so I replaced the vacuum modulator (there was ~ an once of oil in the vacuum line so I thought I had it). The problem is still there. I continue to check the tranny oil level and I need to add 3-5 ounces every week. The vacuum line to the modulator is dry and I have not seen any leaks on the pavement. Any ideas where the oil may be going and what is causing the hesitation?
