Hey dwells, the alum wheels really make a big difference on making the truck look better. As an option with the truck they were only 229.00 for the set, and the spare tire was almost 300.00, go figure. I have a codealarm brand alarm system that has a normally open relay for the starter kill. If they cut the power the truck will not start. The actuators are hooked up to a common after market module for opening and closing the windows with the remote. Then they have the module hooked to the alarm module. They also put isolating relays for the actuators to keep the amp draw down through the module. The actuators have a 4 inch travel and the rod has a travel of less than 2 inches. The way they hooked it up was creative, they tacked a small bracket to the rod in the front bin. They cut a slot in the bracket to allow the actuator to travel the full 4 in. They bolted the actuators to the top of the box so that if they fail you can un-bolt them from inside the back to open the bins. It is actually a pretty simple set-up. The rope lights are a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to put a switch in all the bins, you only need one wire with d.c. . Some 6 strand t-stat wire would probably work. Where did you see the rope lights?, I would like to get some. You could probably put a pin switch in the bins for the lights. I got the interior and exterior upgrade pkgs and the power tow mirrors. The sticker on the truck was 32,000 before the addition of the box. The box is about 8,000.00. I paid 36,287.00. The dealer told me there was no 0% financing for 05's at the time, but I did get a 1000.0 rebate and 2.9% for 5 yrs. You got a great deal with the 0% financing. The int. upgrade has the captains chairs and the carpet and insulated headliner. It looks like a nice pickup truck inside the cab. The 4.10 rear end is the only option with the cutaway, But I probably need it to take off since the truck is so heavy. If you would like to see pics. of the actuator set-up p.m. me with your e-mail address and I'll send you some. By the way, if the truck is purchased for a business you are entitled to a 1,000.00 allowance for tool bins or shelving on top of all rebates. I would ask about that and make them give it to you. Later.
Hey Mark- I would like to see pictures of the actuators- I will send you my email address. I do HVAC/R work and have been slammed w/ work (good thing). What type of work do you do? If you do any commercial refrigeration, you know how many tanks we have to carry around. I've looked at different racks, and I think I'm going to order a 4x30 lb. vertical tank rack, and a rack that holds 2 30's and a 50 from American Van. I like their design better than some of the others.
As for the rope lights, I googled for 12V rope light, and found a few, but have yet to order any. I found the idea at http://www.readingbody.com/prod-encl-read-options.html .
Hey dwells, how were your holidays? I have not recieved your e-mail address yet. I also do a/c work. I only do residential though, I got tired of commercial work, too time consuming. I bought the 4 tier rack from am. van also. I saw one at the supply house that had rings for the spare ox. and acetylene bottles on the top of the freon rack, wish I would have seen that one first. My bus. has been more than usual this time of year, but I like the break in the slow season, another plus with residential work. We got some snow on christmas for the first time since 1954, and the last time it snowed here at all was 15 years ago. 3 days later the temps went back up in the 70's and has stayed there. Got to love this weather. I think I'll take tomorrow off and go to my camp for the weekend and maybe go fishing offshore. I feel for all the people up north right now. gotta go, talk to you later.
