Ford Work Light
Ford Work Light
I just bought a used under the hood work light, the retractable one that ford makes, I was wondering where does it mount? Does it go on the underside of the hood or to one of the interior sides of the quater panel, just curious, any help would be appreciated.
It may have a Ford part number but you can find the same contraption under the hood of many 80's and 90's vintage Jeep vehicles with a Jeep part number on it. Just FYI. I have two of them from an 88 Cherokee and a 91 Cherokee. They are identical to the Ford unit with the exception of the part number.

Would you happen to have a pic of yours mounted under your hood and if so could you e-mail it to me, if it would not be too much trouble. Also I noticed with mine, to get the cord to retract fast I have to shake the unit, do you have any suggestions as to how i could correct this, I didnt look at it too closely to see if you can open it up easily. Any help you could provide would be appreciated.
The unit mounts on the passender side, the wiring goes across the hood to join with the trouble light on the driver side. You will need to make a couple of wire holders to keep it from drooping into the engine.
