Driving cycle

At the end of a problem seems to start another problem. My # 4 COP went out and it took me a day or two to figure it out. In the prosses I disconnected the battery a few times. I was told by a friend that I need to do a driving cycle of stop and go and the highway driving. Is this accurate? I have done this and the code PO 1000 keeps coming out. Dose the cycle need to be done all at once? The check eng light dosen't come back on till I restart the next morning after I thought I did the complete driving cycle. any words of wisdom? Thanks.

No, I was told that when I disconnected the battery that I lost all memory. good and bad. po 1000 code means I should do the driving cycle routine but I can't seem to make it work. I am doing stop and go with 6, 30 second stops, then highway at no more than 65mph.

Yes, disconnecting the battery, Ford recommends like 10 minutes, will re-set the PCM. Once the PCM is re-set you do need to drive the vehicle so that it "learns" your driving habits.
