ERG MONITOR - SMOG FAIL

anyone know how I can get it to cycle and more important could there be something wrong from having EGR tube removed and straight up pipe installed for 4.5K miles????????? if EGR valve needed cleaning or wasn't working properly I would get a MIL, right?

ERG monitor won't cycle. had delete installed for under 5K miles and now it is reinstalled to pass California smog. problem is the system monitor is showing INC for the EGR monitor. I have done the FORD RECOMENDED drive cycle multiple times and it will not clear. no check engine light and truck runs excellent, I did notice the turbo doesn't whistle on and off when at idle when warming up, it would with the delete installed (and before it was removed, I think?).

everything went right back in and seems to be working properly, no leaks - fluid or exhaust. did have some trouble with an exhaust leak right after reassembly but that was just alignment issues at back of turbo with up pipe and y-pipe. got that taken care of and now it will not clear the monitor INC so I can get it smog checked.

Did you load a tune to clear/avoid the CEL when you did the delete? If so, did you flash back to stock after re-installing the EGR cooler?

I have my truck tuned with EGR still physically intact. The EGR does not get used and even after thousands of miles, my EGR emissions status still says incomplete "INC". It will never "complete" because of the tune. When it is time for an emissions check, I just remove the EGR valve to clean it, flash back to stock and drive it for at least 500 miles. The one downside to not using any EGR via tuning comes when you reload the stock tune. The valve ends up being stuck shut from not being used.

No tunes or tuner, completely stock. Early build so no check engine light while delete installed. Just got oring kit at ford dealer. Will pull EGR, inspect, clean, replace and try drive cycle again. Thanks!

Did you disconnect the batteries for a while before you re-installed the EGR cooler? If not, disconnect the batteries for at least an hour with the headlights turned on to drain any capacitors and do another drive cycle or two. Maybe it just needs a fresh relearn.

got egr out (pretty gooey) and all cleaned up. it's back in and I plan to drive it this afternoon 40 or so miles for some errands. I'll try to slip in the drive cycle parameters if I don't see any cops around!

batteries were out for 36 to 48 hours while EGR tube was reinstalled last week, that should have done it - right?

follow up to follow, speak up if I'm missing anything. thanks

40 miles did it! my scan tool says all sys monitors complete, I'll get the re-test on Monday and do one more follow up (hopefully) to close out this thread and let everyone know it was just an EGR cleaning to get it working again. thanks and rep added.....................

That gooey EGR cooler is probably ruptured and letting in coolant, it should be dry.
