Hey guys, I seen a F-350 today with a 6" lift with 315/75/16 BFG on what appeared to be stock wheels....anyone on here running this size/type tire on stock 16 inch wheels? I assume they'll fit but how practical, like are they bowed out from the rim???? JUst curious, I would like to skip getting new rims if I can help it.
I have 285 75 16's with no brob. I'm sure you could go as tall as you want as long as you stay with skinnies. It all depends on how wide you wanna go. You wanna play you gotta pay Hope this helps!!
Yea I'm sure it's been done - but they are just plain too wide for stock wheels. Anything over a 285/75, you are supposed to have min. 16x8's. I have 305/70's on 16x8" wheels, and they still bulge - they would look way better on 10's, but they would rub bad! General rule of thumb is wheel width has to be within 2" of tire width.
You could try the Buckshot Mudder, they come in a 36x10.50 16, and the recommended wheel width is 16x7-16x8, perfect for stock rims. Actually I think the size is 305/80/16. I have seen many trucks in my area with the 315/75s on stock wheels, so it is possible but they probably wear the centers out pretty quick.
Check my gallery for pics. I'm running 315/75/R16's BFG all terrains on the factory rims. I've had no problems with wear (except when I forget to rotate the tires on time, oops), and I get zero rubbing on or off road. I'll probably be able to get about 45K-50K total miles on these tires, and I've got almost 30K on them now (lift was done with about 32K on the truck, I have almost 61K on it now).
Next tire replacement is going to include new wheels. I personally am tired of the look of the factory ones. Anyway, long story short, it does work.
Pocket, thanks for info---exactly what I was looking for. I am doing a 6" Skyjacker and wanted to add the BFG AT 315/75/16's.......seen this setup the other day in person on another F-350 and wow....SWEEEET
