When putting stacks on a 02 psd is better to have a muffler or straight exhaust?
Im gonna do 4" from the turbo into 5 or 6 inch stacks. What is the better exhaust to go with either way? (sound and performance)
I have mine straight piped right now - and I think it sounds best that way. When I went on vacation this summer - I threw a muffler on it just for the trip, 'cause I didn't know how loud the stacks might be on a long drive. IMO - the muffler didn't really make it much quieter - all it did was take away the good sounds. My vote would be straight pipe all the way!
That is where i sfound the stacks and that kit looks awesome and i will probally go that way. But my main concern is Muffler or no muffler. Does having a muffler effect exhaust temps any? I am new to diesels. This is my first one.
No, not everyone will have them. Even on my last Kenworth I had low-level exhaust. I hate stacks.
I hate it when someone backs in next to me with "weed burner" exhaust .... I end up moving because of the exhaust smoke/smell makes it impossible to sleep . Nothing like the sound of 8" stacks with the Jake on full !!

You wouldn't have had to worry about that with me. I ran the generator to power the rooftop unit. (and the water heater so I could take a shower, the refrigerator, cooktop, etc.) It was a big sleeper at 144"...
