Installed the predator (65 HP tune) last night and WOW! It was raining last night in Ohio and the tires were busting loose at 40 mph + in 3rd/4th gear (man.) so I didn't really get a chance to roll on the power but from what little it did show me it will be hard to imagine what the hi-test tune will be! Have to wait an exhaust and guages though. It really woke the giant up....
Anyone running a manual tranny with predator? Does it sound like a freightrain when the turbo kicks in? is this normal since it's not learning the (auto) shift points? Power seems to really kick in when turbo spools up, not a gradual power input ...kind of all of a sudden the fire is lit. Just wondering...
Well, I just got it tuesday, but I have that drip out of the bellhousing and a little oil on the blue hose coming from the turbo. I'm wondering if I should take it in to be fixed before predatoring it. I can live with the drip, but I don't want the turbo hose to blow off with the increased pressures the predator probably will make.
I took my truck in for the oil leak on the bell housing and they didn't comment on anything unusual. I have the SCMT but had set everything back to stock before taking it in.
On a side note, the said that the leak was actually a front seal and that the oil was running down and collecting on the bell housing. I thought that this was BS but figured I'd see. Well yesterday I saw - oil on the driveway again. Yup there was the drip on the bell housing again. So the truck has to go back in next week
The thing that really gripes me is that I told the service writer that I suspected the RMS in the first place.
I guess I was just giving it a little too much juice when the turbo spooled up. When I ease into the spool up the power just rolls on and on till the rpm's are up there. When it gets hammered the power KICKS. I sort of expected the power to be throughout the whole rpm range instead of at the higher end....not that I'm complaining!!! HOO-YA.
