I am a new member and I have a 98 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 with 91,500 miles still covered under warranty. We love the truck but we are getting HORRIBLE gas mileage! Maybe 200 miles per tank not hauling anything! So we thought maybe it is the plugs needing changed. I need to know what the size of the plugs are, cuz I have a 5/8 spark plug socket and was wondering if the plugs for the truck were that size, plus I need to know what the spacing is to be set to...please help!
Its on the drives frame rail and it's not a bad job. When you get the filter ask them for the tool to remove the connections, looks a little bit like scissors and shouldn't cost much. You'll have to relieve the fuel pressure, disconnect the inertia switch and run the truck until it stalls, you'll still get some fuel coming out so be careful.

As far as the fuel mileage, that can vary depending on your type of driving/trip length. How are you calculating the mileage?
