Any one using the 100w 9007 replacement headlamps? Im looking for something better than trash at wolly world. To much for the projectors. Maybe something in the middle. I dont want a total melt down so I thought I would ask first.
I just put Silverstars in my truck and they are much brighter and produce a better light than stock. I put some junk 55,100w bulbs in from JCWhitney and they sucked - put my stock ones back in until I got the silverstars.

i have the sliver stars as well and love them.
i got the ones from jc as well and they sucked
i had some 100 watt APC's for a while and they melted the plugs in the head lamp
I posted a similar thread under supy duty, got the same answer sliverstars. You can buy them on ebay for about 25 plus shipping. Wondering if 30 combined is a good price or not.
i guy i know changed his lights to some different ones and when he tried to take those clips off the hold the lights in they kinda got wrecked, does a guy have to buy some new ones to put back in once you take the lights out, or is there a trick to getting the clips off?i am thinking of changing mine to something brighter, the stock lights kinda suck. also wondering if you guys notice that the lights on the psd on low beams (and high too i guess) that they dont seem to point high enough?
I have always heard that PIAA makes some good replacement bulbs. However they can run all the way up to $125 for just 2 bulbs. Also there are many sites on the web that carry PIAA products.
I have the silver stars too, I read in a post somewhere how you can install relays to make em brighter too. I'm still trying to find my way around though cannot find it though.
Although I have not yet done this,, I read that an upgraded wiring harness for the headlights (available from suvlights.com) is an outstanding upgrade. I plan on doing the wiring harness and the silverstars in the near futute.
Another vote for the Silverstars here. The 100w. 9007's will most likely melt your sockets. Look at the puny 16 (maybe 18 ga.) wiring in the headlight harness and you'll see why.
While on the subject of lighting, does anyone make a 9004/7 style bulb with an H4 style plug. H4 is the old sealed beam style plug with the connectors that are about three times as wide as the 9004. You can buy headlight kits that run them for a lot of the european cars, but I am really only thinking that a conversion bulb would be adequite for the task. You can run 90/130's with that connector and not melt a thing. They get REAL bright if you upgrade the wiring harness to 12 guage with a load reduction relay to feed them.
Mostly the problem with the headlights these days is the bulbs are fine, it's the wiring harness that supplies them is under-designed. I've tried to find ways to get the 9004 bulbs to shine as brightly as the old H4 style. All I've done is melt plugs because the conductor is too small on the bulb. I've concluded that the best way is to use H4. You should have seen the high beams on my '92 GTI. Four 100 watt H4 halogen bulbs that would light up a small valley on a clear night, not just the 100 yards in front of you.
