Our Van, E250, will not Idle, and it is not blowing any codes, Can anyone offer any advice? Runs Great when moving, just when we stop and come to an idle it shuts off.
We went out earlier today, Put our foot to the floor, a big Cloud of Black smoke came out, and then it ran fine. I have a feeling that is not the end of it...Any Help or ideas out there as to what it could be?
Some guys will sware that every little problem including a dirty ashtray will show up on the code test.
Myself and others have found that not to be always true. The IAC regulates how much air is allowed to bypass the throttle plates at idle depending on other conditions going on like cold start or turning on the A/C. That could be your idle problem if it's clogged up or not functioning. The TPS sends information to the computer about how open or closed the throttle is so it can make adjustments to things like timing and such. As far as the black smoke goes, I can't tell by your post whether it happens when you first start it, or after its running and you hit the gas.
Thanks for your Help Nightowl, We started it and then it stalled. Then we started it again and as soon as we turned the key it maintained its own idle, but It sounded like it was Loading up, so we stepped on the gas, Missed for a second, and then we saw the smoke and it cleared up. We took it around the block and ran fine. That was two days ago. We haven't tried it since. We will see today.... But we are really thinking it could be the IAC, someone said that you can clean them???????
