Neew 6.0?

I just got approved for a auto loan, and was all set on the new 04/05 f-250 cc fx4 ps. But after reading this board for some time I am very scared about all the problems I have been reading abou t, any thoughts? Thanks in advance

People come here for advice. Some ask, some lurk, some people like me were asking about programming for my 6.0. The posts you see are people having problems, which most are dealer related.

Not many come here and post I love my 6.0 and want to keep it stock. The thread would be very short. FTE is a great site for any Ford with the 6.0 being the newest diesel offered.

More information and fixes are found here on this site than your dealer knows about. As with any new product you will have some issues. I have never bought a vehicle that did not have an issue, and with the 6.0L being as complicated as having the Space Shuttle in your driveway, some are intimidated by this.

Buy, Enjoy, and Welcome to FTE.....I love my 6.0L

I am with Maxium4x4 on this one. If you have been on the board for a while, you will agree with me that a lot of the problems seem to be the same with a slight twist on the symptoms. Most of the problems are easy fixes (as my own experience should prove.... just look at my recent post).

People on this forum are looking for answers with problems. Some are minor, some not so minor, but where can you find an engine with no problems and where can you find a community of your peers that will assist you and direct you in resolving those problems.... Buy the 6.0L and don't look back, chances are you may have minor issues at first, but once resolved it is smooth sailing. AND do me a favor, if you do have troubles, post them so we can help and so you can help the next ones that feel like they are all alone with similar problems.

2005 6.0

I had a 2002 7.3 and loved that truck - never a moments problem. Got an 05 6.0 - King Ranch short bed 4 X 4. Have about 2,000 trouble free miles so far. There is great info on this site and I visit regularly to pick up the latest things people are doing to their trucks. But the best info is posted by the folks who are experiencing an abnormality and share this info. Sometimes there is really nothing wrong and sometimes there is. I would think if you check a Dodge or Cheby site, you would see the same things that are on FTE. Give that new 2005 6.0 a test ride, crank up the tunes and enjoy the quiet cab, smooth ride, great handling and really great turning radius. You'll never look back.

Remember there are 400/600K of them running out there...not that many problems reported here.

Would you say you find yourself in the 7.3 forums too? I enjoy helping people that own a 7.3 like we had, just as much as coming to the 6.0 forum.

7.3 Site

MAXIMUM4X4 - Have not visited the 7.3 site since I got the 6.0. My wife already thinks I'm spending too much time on the computer and not enough with her.

I have to agree with the others, I had lots of problems with my 6.0, but when ford agreed to purchase it back, I wanted another. When this beast runs, it is amazing. As they get more of them on the road, fewer problems are cropping up. And they are figuring fixes that work now.

I remember when I first found this site also and rememeber being scared off about all the problems other people were having, then I realized that Ford is selling hundreds or even thousands of these trucks every day. I picked up my 05 psd cc on wednesday and have about 700 miles so far and it is a fantastic truck. There have been many posts noticing the diminishing # of troubles as well which all in all, gave me even more confidence. I love my Ford and will never go back!
As others have said, I come here almost daily to see what other folks are doing, to read about oil and general maintenance. The people here have a gigantic wealth of knowledge and experience and the most amazing thing, they are willing to share.
Get your 05 PSD with confidence and enjoy, I sure do!

The number of people that post problems here represent just a fraction of all the owners in my opinion. I have an early 03 and had a few problems that were fixed to my satisfaction.

After reading and participating here on FTE, I started asking every F250/350 6.0 owner I would come across about how they liked their 6.0 and were they having problems. I found one that had a problem and was happy because the dealer fixed it.

Get the truck and enjoy it. Make sure your dealer has a good certified and experienced diesel tech.

We are own worst enemy. The 6.0 is a high tech engine with the right modifications is an awesome one at that. Experimenting does come with failure due to the fact that pushing the safe parameters does come with consequences.

If you look through the posts you will see repeat concerns, which usually is dealer related, but in most part are people looking to modify or improve their truck.

I agree, I am going for a repurchase but will get another. There is nothing mass built that always comes out flawless, there are bound to be errors.

I am happy to say that I have an 04 with a little over 2k on it and have not had any problems with the truck so far. And like everyone else says you hear more from the people who have problems than the people who do not have problems.

13,700 miles on my 04, mostly mid-weight trailers, no serious problems. I had it run bad after an oil change once, and I had light turbo surge and crap idle once around 10K miles. I had it blow some oil out the intercooler line, which was easily fixed. That was at 2000 miles, and it never happened again. No idle problems since, either. I'm happy. The transmission is a great asset. Great engine braking. Good fuel economy for a 7000lb truck. I can push 20 on the highway empty. Hangs around 12 or 14 with the trailer and a car on the back.
