Question NEED HELP WITH 15x8 WHEEL OFFSET

I was going to order my MT Classic 2 tonight, but I need to find out what is acceptable for my offset & backspacing tolerances. I am going to get 15x8's with 31x10.5 tires. Later, I'm going to get a lift kit and add 33's to the 1994 Bronco. Can someone post the offset & backspacing, or if you have this set up, what are your backspacing & Offset? I think that MT Classic 2's are 3.3125" Backspacing and a -28mm offset. Will this work without any rubbing?

Well, i've been crunching some #'s and I found that my OEM rims are pretty similar to what I already have on the Bronco. I'm still not too sure, I'd like to order them today. Has anyone ordered any 15x8 rims lately? What are your backspacing and offsets? Any rubbing?

It looks like your numbers are the same as mine. I went with the 15x8 also and the same size tire in the BFG All terrains and had no rubbing at all.I think you can even go up to 32s without rubbing. But have that checked before you leave the tire shop.

raldo,

I run 15.x10 MT Challengers which should be the same backspacing and offset as the Classic II's. The backspacing is about an inch shallower than the stock wheels which is actually quite helpful in widening the footprint of the truck if you have lifted it. I run 33x12.50 BFG A/T's and have no rubbing proplems with 4" of suspension lift.

Yep, I went ahead and ordered them. I got them for $384.47 from Summit Racing. Desert Rat wanted $535.76 for a set of MT Classic 2's. Well, They shipped them pretty quick and they are on their way. WOO HOO!

I got lucky with my Challengers, Desert Rat had a set they had just pulled off a demo truck that had a few minor dings and scratches. Got no centercaps with 'em but I got a set of four for a song. I actually like the fatc that I didn't get centercaps. I drilled and tapped the Challengers to accept the Ford caps that I already had.

Drilled and tapped, I was wondering about that. The rims are coming with closed caps and are 4.5" in depth. It won't fit on the front, so that means I have to go over to the local tire shop and buy some open ended caps. MT sells them, but they are about 13 bucks, and I think I can get the locally for 7. Now I have to save up for some 31's.

Yeah, required marking the location and drilling three holes and tapping for 14/-20 bolts that hold the Ford caps on. And the front caps are already open ended. The rears I popped out the plastic centers and put my own custom center in that I designed and cut from heavy gauge sheet metal.

When you guys refer to backspacing and offsets what are those? Are they some type of washer you put on the lugs to move your wheels out away from the fender wells?

Hope this helps you out.

A wheel's backspacing refers to the measurement taken perpendicular from the mounting inner face of the wheel (the contact point where the wheel meets the brake rotor or drum) to the inner rim height.

A wheel offset refers to the distance between the mounting surface of the wheel and the rim centerline. The offset is positive when the mounting pad is outboard of the rim centerline and negative when inboard of the rim centerline. See Diagram for a complete understanding of these two important concepts.
