Ballast resistor wire

is it needed in the DE.S.II setup?

Duraspark II system? Yes, the resistor is required.

not needed if you use a tfi coil, make sure the original wiring doesnt have it in it, the tfi coil gets full power all the time, not just when starting like the older coils.

Yes, but the TFI coil uses a TFI module. The absence of a resistor may overheat and ruin the duraspark II module.

I personally do not know enough about mixing and matching some of this stuff. Your best insurance is to use components that were designed to work together from the factory.

the modules only trigger the coil to fire. the tfi coil recieves full power in a tfi system during start and run mode, while a ds2 coil recieves full power in start mode and lower power in run mode (thru resistor). im running a tfi coil with a ds2 setup for 7 months already, no failure yet.
