trans swap

my 88 f150 has a 5 speed manual, i want to put an automatic out of a 91 f150 in its place . does antone know what all this consist of ? replies desperatly needed . thanks.

If the auto from the 91 is computer controlled, E40D for example. You would need the computer and wiring harness from that truck, not to mention possibly different length drivelines and crossmembers, shift linkage, od cancel switch, etc?

You'll need to find a vaccum controlled AOD. ( 1990& older).

the complete harness or just the harness from auto trans ?

To be honest I don't know, There's a mass of wires on my drivers side fenderwell. I have a 90 F250 4x4 with the E40D tranny. I'm not sure if the tranny has a seperate harness or if it's in the main mess. But we'll bump this up and maybe someone smarter can help you.
