Greetings. I have a 1988 e150 conversion with hacked-up "conversion-company" wiring that doesn't work well. I'm trying to resurrect the factor speaker plugs and speaker locations since they actually make sense for how I want to use the vehicle.
I found the head-unit power harness taped behind the dash and it works fine but the speakers are a different story. The factory door locations were never used, but still have harnesses that go from inside the door to a similar plug hanging loose up inside the dash on each side. The rear is a complete different story, though. I'm not even sure there is factory wiring in the rear.
So, the questions:
1) is there anywhere I can get the actual factory harness to go in the dash and plug into the pigtails that go to each of the front door locations and
2) would such a harness include plugs for rear locations, and if so, where are those locations (with respect to the side frame rails behind the interior trim, etc.. )
The rear speaker wires could not have been installed at the factory. If so, they would be in the doors. Depends on how the conversion company ordered the truck. As far as the other harnesses, a salvage yard would be your best bet. It may be cheaper and easier just to run wires from radio over and cut and splice into the harnesses.
