It shouldn't matter if your truck is 2WD or 4WD, it only matters what axle assembly you have. I assume it's the Ford 7.5. If so, then yes, you can get the PowerTrax No-Slip or the LockRight. Not everyone carries them for the 7.5, but I believe you can get them at www.truckperfomance.com
If you happen to have the Ford 8.8, then you have many other options also.
Thanks for the info. Yeah, mine is the 8.8 so I'll have to see what I can find. Glad to hear that I can put them in. Any idea if they are noisy or quiet or anything?
I have been looking for one of these myself. Ever since I got my 2001 2.5L 2X4 and have found out a few things. The first is that almost no Ranger 2.3/2.5L has a 8.8 rear. See if the metal tag is still on one of the rear cover bolts. It will have 2 numbers one above the other the top one will be something like w307 etc. The best I have been able to find is that this is some kind of lot number. The lower number will be something like 37375 or 3L7375. This translates into (the first one) 373 ratio 7.5" ring gear. The second number with the L in the middle designates it as a limited slip diff. (Traction-Loc). The last two numbers are the ones you have to worry about because they determine the model of the locker you need. Also PowerTrax has a chart on their web site that is supposed to tell you which rear is which. I don't know about others but the Ford one is incorrect. I even asked them to tell me how to measure the cover to determine which one I had and they said I had the 8.8" because my cover is 11" across. Well I got the tag number off mine and whet to the dealers parts man and asked him and he said no question I have a 7.5". Even though it looks and measures out to be 8.8 on the PowerTrax web site. Their picture of the rear ends are also turned 90deg.so it's a little odd to look at. Now for the bad news PowerTrax does not make a No-Slip for the 7.5. The good news is they do make a Lock-Right for it. Truckperfomance.com seems to be the best priced (about $282).
Good Luck and let us know how you make out.
Hey i have a 92 F150 2WD, and i put the Powertrax No Slip traction diff in my 8.8 rear and it works great, it's quiet, and i can't get stuck even if i wanted to...hope it all works out
