Wondering where the GPR is located. looking at the passanger side there are 2 relays on the top of the motor is it one of these or both, or some where else. Also will a 02 or earlier GPR work none of the after market part stores show a listing for them yet.

Yes the relay closest to the back of the engine should be the GPR. The GPR wiring should go directly into the wiring harness and I believe they should be yellow and brown. The other relay in front should have a red wire going to the intake. I don’t know if a 02 GPR is the same as 03, I would think so as long as it is a 7.3.

The intake air heater element. Good for really cold climates.

Thanks

I just bought the truck a month ago and it's just starting to get cold here, it was 18* last night. I have been having to plug it in the last few mornings to get it to start so after searching the post's for a fix I thought I would start with the GPR.
When I purchaced the truck I did a car fax report and it was originally a Canadian truck, then sold to someone in Nebraska and a couple of months later sold at a auction and found its way here in Anchorage on the dealers lot.
So the air intake heater should be a help espically if I can get the current problem cured.
Not to thrilled with the prospect of replacing the GP's so I will have to test them first, hopefully the GPR will do the trick. Still cold enough outside to get your fingers cold quickly holding metal parts.

Have you checked your GPR with a test light?

if you have not done so already changing to a full syn oil will help on the cold starts(mobil 1 delvac 5-40,mobil 1 truck and suv 5-40)...i bet it gets pretty cold up there

No I have not changed to Syn yet but may do so when it gets colder depending on how it starts (when it's fixed and colder) I do have a magnetic oil pan heater on it which will help here at home but not at work.

We finally are getting some snow here yesterday and today not much but a start.

Still wondering if anyone knows if a 02 GPR will work on an 03

Going to check with an international dealer for a GPR for a price compareson

I called the Ford dealer here they wanted $149.95 for a GPR. They sure are proud of them.
The International dealer wanted $25.63 ..........I guess they are not so proud of theirs.
So I guess I dont want to be so proud either.
