can any one tell me how to get a 351 w into a 78 f250. right now i have a 400 in the truck. im looking for advice on the mounts and any other mods i may have to do. thanks
i have a nv4500 in the works. but i guess the big guestion im asking is what do i need to do to get the mounts right? is there any cutting or welding or is there a kit that will let it bolt right in?
The engine bolts right in, just use truck motor mounts from a 302 or 351w and it bolts right to the frame perches. Not sure about using NV4500 tranny though.
The NV 4500 was, if my memory serves me right, never OEM in a Ford truck. They were used in late 80's early '90s GM trucks behind almost everything (Any of those GM's with Deep Low and Overdrive, that's the 4500), and Dodge used them after '94, but I'm not sure of the exact years. I know this trans was put behind everything from the 4.3 GM V-6, the 305-350 (5.0/5.7), the 454 (7.4), and the Mopar 318/360 (5.2/5.9), the 488 (8.0) V-10, and the Cummins Diesels, so it's definitely a stout trans. I'd check advance adapters, they make different bellhousings for dang near anything (GM Muncie 420 to AMC V-8, etc.).
