Bumper to bumper warranties does include the grill and from what you are describing it seems that it is a manufacturing/ workmanship problem and should be covered.
Where is it starting to bubble??? Also, check all your chrome for the same thing. I had to get all chrome replaced on my '02 for rust spots etc and I was hoping this would not be an issue on my '05.
It's a big issue , this should not be going on at all. New trucks should not be going thru this gong show.
Do they use the Mag chloride on the roads in Canada like they do in Montana? It may (or may not, the jury is still out) control ice but it for sure does a number on vehicles. The only thing I found to slow down road de-icer is WD40 sprayed liberally on any chrome and a wash at least every other week. Please keep us informed about where else bubbles so we can keep an eye out.
Mag chloride is also used on the roads in the Silverton Co area, wash it off as soon as you can, I will not let it sit on it over night
Tim,
In Montana we have had reports from truck shops and owners alike about how this stuff will even eat the coating off wires leaving them bare! I and many others have noticed that it is a skin irritant and has caused slight burning. It also has been noticed to be a lung irritant. It has been highly suggested that if you are in an area that uses this stuff not to park in the garage. The idea is when it is on your vehicle it will freeze into the ice/snow and slow or stop being corrosive. When you park in the garage it will thaw and go to work. Unless you can rinse your vehicle on a daily basis this is a way to defend against it along with the WD40. Again, it is highly suggested that you rinse at least every other week including an underbody rinse. Many people are fighting the use of this stuff and petitions have been signed but the cities say it is cheaper and MAY work better.
Ford shoudl fix yoru truck no questions asked. It will not fall under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. It should fall under the 5 year 100,000 rust and corrosion part of the warranty. My 04 has it, so i'm sure your 05 came with it too.
