Well, the 1/03 build has been given back.. Hope she finds a good home.. Wish it would have been a Buy Back, but none of the/its issues were of the 'condemning' kind.. All and all, a good running truck though, but I just couldn't take the popping/bang outta the clank-o-matic anymore.. A daily reminder of what has come to pass.. Took delivery this afternoon of the New 05 that was ordered to my specs.. Took just under six weeks to get it hammered out, and delivered to CA.. Not bad.. Its an Arizona Beigh F250 4x4 FX, XLT, 'loaded' Crew Cab shorty.. I drove it a few times, always cold starts, sometimes warm, listening hard for the haunts of the past ...and guess what......NONE OF THE NORMAL... popping/banging ect. and the floorboards are butter smooth!!! Goes down the road straight as an arrow without any wandering as some do.. Very impressive ride... Hated to see the other truck go, like an old friend, but after driving the 05 it may be a keeper!!! Sure looks SWEET all greased down and shinny chrome.. Time to call Motorhaven
Is the 05 Tranny different than the 04 Torqueshift?
Don't think so..
I've been trying to find if there has been any engineering updates/build changes to the later units, but other than programming, haven't heard of any.. Yet.. Maybe setup tighter, but trying to find out why only some of the torqueshifts are 'rougher' than others is a mystery..The 4R100/E40D had many changes throughout their run.. My 03, when I bought it had nice shifts, and I never heard/felt any problems until after the last flash.. Could have been just the mileage.. (11,300 when traded) First, I just noticed the 2-3MPH 'pop/clunk' and then later on the 2-3 upshift clunk on moderate throttle.. Seemed to be slowly getting worse.. I've driven many later builds, and none of them had the noises.. So far, the 05 unit has been flawless.. 100 miles on the clock, maybe too soon to tell but at this point
Congrats on the NEW ride....sounds like a beauty....well at least you know all the COOL mods you need to get....if you need help spendin your money let me know....I LOVE to SPEND others MONEY!!!....hope this baby works out better than the last!!!....Good Luck with it. Tim
