Just read in another post about 'maintenance packages'. I never knew Ford offered one. No one mentioned it when I bought the 2004.
Is this a local dealer offered item, or is it from the factory? Can someone tell me what various packages are available for my new 2005 when it comes??
I will probably keep it 10-12 years and put about 15K a year on it.
Ford ESP offers full maintenance with the extended warranty at an extra cost. You will find some threads on here about cost differences. Shop it if you are going to purchase it. Most dealers will gouge you on it like they do everything else.
I had a 36k/36 month maintenance package offered, but declined for a couple of reasons. 1 - they gave me a coupon for a free oil change and said if I filled out their sales survey all +s, I'd get another. 2 - it included tire rotation... I asked how they rotated a dually with aluminum wheels (fronts polished outside, outside rear polished inside, and inside rear steel) - I got a blank look. 3 - they wanted to finance it...

To properly rotate the tires on a DRW truck, they have to be taken off the truck and broken off the rims...
Take it from someone who knows, get the maintenance package. I didn't get it and wish I did. The maintenance on these vehicles is VERY expensive. The maintenance packages by themselves are maybe $300-$600 by themselves. I know the 30k,60k, and 90k are atleast $500. If you do get the maintenance package, all you have to do is show up at your service department before your odometer passes a certain point. If you miss that point, they cancel the package and you're out by some bread. But to me it seems worth it, your truck is taken care of and you don't have to worry about shelling out a couple hundered dollars just to have your truck maintained.
