This guy I work with has a 1995 Silverado 5.7L. He's been BEGGING to run my F-150 in my signature since he first found out that I was a life-long Ford lover. So, we ran 'em.
We both got off at the same time last night and we set the place that we would start out. I was behind him and just as we exited the last curve before the straightaway, I was to pull alongside him and put my speedo on 55, along with him. Just as we passed the first mailbox on the straightaway, just as we discussed, we floored it. I smoked him by a truck lenght at least. He started gaining on me near the end, and then his truck shut off. Doesn't really matter though... I had him from the beginning.
I honestly thought that he could beat me. I haven't talked to him since, but I plan to just to see what happened. I would've fully understanded if he would have though, I have a 302 and he has a 350. Big power difference there... But now a 351... That would've given him a run for his money for doggone sure!
Isn't that a great feeling?! I got a 98 silverado in my 77 with a " non-performance" 351M, was he mad! He tried 3 more times, even up a long hill, sorry dude, no dice! My 95 has a 302 with 3.55 gears and 4R70W tranny, but it's a light flare side so... more of the same! Make sure you rub it in at work!!
That sounds deadly. I always love smoking the ricers. They'd be blowing blue smoke and all you could hear is my v8 rumbling down the road. It's hilarious I was driving down the road in town and it is a crappy road, some civics were beside me and had to go like 10 km/h over the ruts where I could just drive. Felt so good. I dropped to 2nd and left them after that. It was deadly.
Yep, I believe it's the greatest feeling in the world. All of this just to prove that a Chevrolet isn't the best and fastest thing out there. I think that people are finally starting to realize this...
You know these kind of races happen all the time. Chevy vs Ford. I dont do it much. But have when I was younger. I know a kid in his early 20s who is a die hard Ford guy and he loves to race Chevies he makes it a point to do it. He cant stand when soebody runs down Ford saying there slow. He tells him prove it and the race is on. Hes won his fair share lost a few too. I notice that Chevies always make it a point to pass me on the highway but I sense that and speed up and that doesnt happen. Not a good safe way to think but it happens YahI know you do it. Fess up.
