84 questions

Hi All
Just Joined and I thought I would get all my questions in.

I think I have a 1984? w/5 lug wheels, 2 tanks, 351/460 engine (1978?) Automatic trans.

I'm wondering:

1. grvw listed as 6000 on door pillar. Is this f100, 150, ?; 1/2 or 3/4 T. has 'helper springs' on rear axle that contact brackets mounted on side of frame. Is this stock? I would like to put an 8' slide in camper on this truck. I just got 31x10.5 load C tires.

2. Just replaced front disk pads and I cannot find a zerk on the upper steering knuckle joint? Lower is in plane sight directly on top of joint. What am I missing.

3. No Backup lights in tail light assembly. Where would I look for a switch, on the trans, or the linkage or? I would like to add some.

4. I am starting to look for the rear cable and ? to repair the hand parking brake. Is this specific to certain model years?

thanks in advance

Run your VIN code through a decoder. There are several on the internet but you'll have to find one that goes back to the year you suspect. I think the tenth character is the year code, but when I just looked I couldn't find one that decoded past 1980.

The rest of the vin will tell you body style, engine model and all other info. The gear code is on a tag bolted to the rear end. Can't tell you anything more than that, but I recall a couple of threads in this forum about rear end decoding. You may be able to find that info as well.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

looks like an f150

maybe an 82? I cannot find a vin decoder
any help would be appreciated...

I got to looking at the trans, has 4 wires from switch into connector. Problem I came across is that the only 'make' is for neutral.. bad switch? Seems like a schematic with wire colors would be the ticket.
