I cant wiggle either the snail (took its single bolt out) or the turbo. I can tell the turbo is getting looser, though. The turbo downpipe is disconnected from the exhaust but still to the y pipe, glanced at that one and didnt get it either. Im assuming its a clamp too, but I didnt see one. If it is a clamp, is it under the heat shield?
Are the 3 bolts holding the turbo on all facing the exact same direction? Are they all the same length? I know the two easy ones are... If not, there was one other bolt that only had about 1/2" of thread on it, under the turbo, and it was rusted. But it didnt look like part of the mount, so...
I dont want to go about cutting parts until I have replacements... just another excuse to get new stuff
Is there a clamp that holds the "inlet" exhaust's heat shiles to it? I have "fire-hardened" mud all around it so I can tell...
Also, I can move the snail in rotational directions, but not up or down. It takes some "gentle loving" from a hammer though... Turbos still toight loike a toiger.
I didn't get a chance to take any pictures this weekend.
It just occured to me that I have a 7.3 IDI that is on an engine stand in my garage.... - sheesh
I'll drag that out and take a picture of the back (it has no turbo on it, but the bolt holes should be easily seen).
