Terrible clutch problems
I have a 1999 F-150 4.6 5sp. I bought this truck new and it now has 118,000 well maintained miles. My probem is that it has had 4 clutch slave cylinders, and 2 master cylinders. The last slave cylinder just went out with just 22,000 miles on it and it's being fixed to the tune of $600.00. 22,000 miles ago I had the slave, master cylinder, clutch disk, pressure plate and throwout bearing replaced by the best transmission shop in town to the tune of $1000.00. Boy is this getting old! Anyone have any advice on how to make these last longer? I drive it very easily and know how to drive a clutch. I love my truck but I just can't seem to keep a clutch in it. The first slave cylinder even went out at 26,000 miles and was fixed under warranty. Does anyone make any after-market parts for these that are any better? Any advice would really be appreciated! This thing is starting to make me poor!
