I have an '83 F-100 3.8L V-6. When I try to start it, the started solenoid clicks, but it won't start. Trying to jump start it doesn't help, same clicking sound, but won't start. Any suggestions?
Well, if you want to do it the fun, yet dangerous way, you can cross the power posts on the solenoid with the key in run. This will get it started. If you want to be safe and have better luck starting it each time you might want to just replace the solenoid since its bad.
Thedettras, I see you have a 3.8L. If I'm not mistaken, the battery ground cable attaches to the starter housing on this engine. If this is true, remove the ground cable from the starter, clean the contact area, and re-attach.
