well if you plan on purchasing a new 450-550 superduty to hual with, plan on paying 12% tax. add that 12% on top of a 60k+ truck... there is a 8 page book on the new F.E.T from the IRS......
Is this the ruling that determines that your pickup is a "tractor-trailer" when you have a brake controller and put a GN or 5th wheel hitch in the bed? If so, that's one of the dumbest things I've seen them come up with since they screwed the home-office rules up back in the late 80s.
uh, forgive the ignorance is bliss routine, but I know the thread started w/ 450-550's.. then it added HITCHES, and brake controllers.. I'm supposed to p/u my new one 11/1 (b-day) and I'm added the B&W turnover at the dealer... its a 350 DRW.. is that tax exempt from that 12%???

If you had to pay FET, your dealer would have informed you of that and added it to the price.
Not all the truck are subject to the tax. They do have exclusions. If you get a regular truck bed then you can have a hitch as long as it can be removed or hidden so that you have full access to the bed. Also the GVWR exclusion is 33k or less. Cowboy cadillac has a link on their website if you want to read the whole thing.
