I also love to hear Red Sox fans who point to the Yankees payroll and say its great to buy championships. What do you think the Red Sox did this year? Do I need to remind you which team had the 2nd highest payroll this year? The Sox were a close second in payroll this year and you can bet it will go up with all those free agents you got.

Face it, the Red Sox have become what everybody hates the Yankees for. Big payroll and no homegrown talent. Enjoy the championship while you can, win a few more and the Sox will be just as hated as the Yankees.... GO YANKEES!!!!

And with all that money and hype the Yankees still fail to sell out all their home games unlike the red sox!

I was born and raised in NYC and have been a Yankee fan all my life. However, I'm happy that the Sox have won a Series. They deserve it. I always loved watching games between the Sox and Yanks. And I've secretly rooted for Boston from time to time. I remember watching Ted Williams play. When I was a kid and Boston played the Yanks in Yankee Stadium we got to see Joe DiMaggio and his brother Dom, who played for the Sox at that time. Congrats to the Boston Red Sox.

Lets remember though on that one that A-Rod stated he was willing to restructure his contract to go to Boston. It was the players union that wouldn't allow his salary to be lowered. Believe me, I am one of many Yankee fans that did NOT want A-Rod to come to NY. I would have prefered to see him go to Boston.

But I can say that the Yankees have done nothing wrong. If they have the money, generated by fans coming to the stadium, to build a high payroll team, then why shouldn't they?

Something I can't understand is people that hate the Yankees because of their high payroll. I mean, it hasn't done them any good in the last few years, has it? It's kinda hard to accuse the Yankees of "buying" a championship when their last one came 5 World Series ago.

I just really think baseball should consider a salary cap like the rest of the sports

The Red Sox may have deserved to win, but the team that played against them was not the same team that won 105 regular season games. I have no clue what happened to them.
GOOD RUN CARDINALS!

I agree 2Wise... If you look back at the teams breakdowns at the beginning of the season, it worked out the way it was supposed to. The Cardinals weren't even thought of as a playoff team, and the Red Sox were expected to beat the Yankees. Can't wait till next season.
