What's the point in having off road suspension and four wheel drive if it never leaves the road? Off roading is great, you just sometimes pay for little mistakes... (oops, there goes the bumper...). And btw, you don't need a license to drive offroad... :P
And no, when you think it's just below axle height, it's not. you create an 8 ft. wall of water... Well that water was spraying up under the truck too, not just outside.
That's why your rough and ready truck is supposed to crawl through large puddles like that, not blow through. I do it too, I have to admit, but if its that big, you are better off going slower so you don't throw it all up into the vehicle. You can still pass through it, you just have to be careful. Now you know, and hopefully it doesn't cost too much to repair. You CAN fjord deep water, as long as you don't pass your axle and you are going slow enough to minimize the wake.
I started to do the same thing down in Ocala National Forest... I was playing in a field and realized I was going through a swamp. Had to keep on going, there was no chance I could have stopped and reversed, so I pushed on and towards dry land again, just fast enough to keep from bogging down. If I had gunned it I would have been stuck and submerged, neither of which is good. Luckily nothing bad came of it, and now I am a little more careful bombing through unknown fields.
Just let the truck dry out maybe a littel wd-40 on the plug wires at the plugs and coils unhook the battery for 1/2 hour or so and retest. By driving if check engine light comes back on then look in to it more.I do a lot of offroading sorry off highway driving and been hear many times the truck just passed thru the puddel and did not sit in it. Hay trucks are made to drive in mud sand and what not just dont get in over your head they still break.
A_Fire_InsideR1,
I didn't mean to sound rude there, I was just winding down after a hard day...My apologies, it won't happen again. What I should've said was the stock ignition in your truck isn't waterproof, and until you waterproof it, I wouldn't recommend any water rampages.....
Again, my apologies
Scott
PS I drive through the water all the time in my truck, but I was under the influence that you were driving through huge amounts of water(ie 8 ft wall of water) I know you didn't drive through 8 ft of water, just thought a little over what was actually there.

I'm a puddle lover myself! I'm usually afraid of the cold water hitting my hot block and cracking something Oh well, you gotta pay if you wanna play
I get codes all the time in my PSD. Usually over-boost or excessive back pressure... each time it is cured on the 4th drive cycle. If it won't clear, just unhook for battery for 30 minutes, hook it back up, reprogram your stations and clock, and the light should be off.

I hit a puddle one time head on and it almost completely stopped me. I am notorious for hitting all the puddles I can after it rains even if it did claim the life of one of my trucks.....sorry, had to add my piece
