Welcome Eric !!!
first pointer - be easy on it for the first 500 or 1000 miles....
then you can be a LITTLE rougher on it until it breaks in at about 10000 miles
well, you found the BEST site for your truck...
but here's a another good site you can register your vin, check the maintenance, and enter any DIY maintenance... www.myford.fordvehicles.com
GreatAsp - JD told you right about taking it easy until you have some miles on the truck - sounds like it may be too late for that advice. Change the oil and filter soon after the first 1000 miles and don't hammer it until the engine is up to normal operating temp. Surely you will have better luck with your new truck than with the Cardinals!
Yup, a little late on the "take it easy" route, but I will back off the "wow" pedal for the time being. However, I have had enough high performance custom street and track motors not to hammer it until it warms up. I "assumed" Ford made these like all the other factory motors so dumb-dumbs like me could abuse it right off the dealers lot.....lol
I will register the truck, and get the oil changed right at 1000 miles!
Thanks to all, and all tips are helpful.
Eric
PS Can I take it on a 250 mile (500 mile round trip) trip to Branson before the 1000 mile mark?
PSS Yes, the Cardinals looked bad. I appologize to anyone that wanted to watch an exciting series.

Great - you need to have 500 miles on it before pulling according to the manuel and my dealer. I work in Springfield so I may see you on the road to Branson. Guess you know next year we will have the Springfield Cardinals - AA farm team of St. Louis - hope they are better! Good place for quality diesel fuel is just south of Springfield on 65 at Evans road (Fast and Friendly C store - Phillips 66). I know the owner of that chain prides himself on the quality of his fuel.
