Help?????????

A friend is buying a 1987 F150. He says..........it is 4 wheel drive, 5 Liter, four speed with granny gear. This is what he told me and he is a pretty good mechanic and checks things out. He just wanted me to try and find the towing capacity on this.........any help? Thanks.............

This is taken from a Chilton manual. This is posted on Autozone's website under Repair Info. Look on the right hand side of the link and you will see subheadings under trailer towing. Click on them and it explains how to calculate towing capacity and other things.

theres a sticker on the driveside doorjam of my F150 that gives my towing capacity straight from the factory. He might have one too.

Likely to be in the 2800-4000 lb towing capacity range, but not much more. Standards tend to be lower than auto's as the gear reduction, even with granny low, is not as good.
