I discovered that, while in accessory, the driver's door is the only one that triggers the door chime in the GEM. So, splicing in a switch into the door ajar trigger wire (black/yellow) would kill the chime when turned off. This would allow the other functions of the door ajar switch to work normally, when the switch is on. I was told by Dieselmann that the wire was black/yellow for my truck. Not sure about others.

PurerockRacing,
You should be able to verify if this is the correct wire by grounding a test light and probing the wire. It should make the chime come on in accessory with the driver's door shut. I haven't looked for the wire yet, but I think I will be able to access it from behind the kick panel where the wires go out to the door. I, then, plan to wire in a mini toggle switch mounted in the dash.

I have a 2002 Ford F250 SD, I assume the original post on killing the chime also applies to my truck.
My preferences:
lights on chime is ok
Seat belt chime - don't want
key in,,, door open chime- really really don't want, it looks like cutting the blk/pink wire to ignition switch is the quickest/easiest, and if you would "ever" want it back, a simple butt splice takes care of that ,,, correct ?

Examining the black/ping wire you will see that it comes up to a small horseshoe plastic retainer that fits onto the bottom of the lock tumbler housing like a set of dentures. Simply slide it out of it's groove and wrap it up with a bit of electrical tape and stash it under the tumbler housing.
I have circuled what I found in my truck. I am having problems taking out the horseshoe plastic retainer. I am also not sure if this is the right thing. Can someone help me out on this? Thanks.
