long time no post

havent posted here in a while, figured i would post some updates and plans for the rig.

Drivetrain:
D60: detroit, 5.13's, hydro assist steering
14bolt: 5.13's, detroit, disc brakes
np205, np203 doubler
C6: E4OD planetary, manual valve body, gate shifter
42" Iroks
Suspension:
rear 4" K5 springs up front, inboarded reveresed rear springs
Bilstein 5125's
Engine:
Propane injected 351
Exterior:
Dovetailed full roll cag with no top

the d60 and 14bolt are done, workin on the rear springs, the doubler is under construction, the C6 should be underway soon, the 351 is a long term plan, the roll cage should be underway hopefully by spring.

thats about it for now.

Could you tell me the advantage of using the E40D planataries in a C6? I've read about this but don't know if it provides a wider range of gears or what it does.

Sounds like a cool project!

well an E4OD is a C6 with an extra gear and a couple of other differences!

there is actually a post over at pirate about this http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=295464

I saw the post on Pirate which basically just stated that the gears are interchangable. What I want to know is what this gear swap does. I'd love to find an option to make the 3 gear ratio steeper than 1:1, like an overdrive. Not sure if that's the purpose of this swap or what.

im orange150 on that pirate post.

the E4OD planetary gives you a lower first and second gear but leaves third 1:1

That makes sense. I wish there was a way to change that 3rd gear ratio on a C6.

well I am not sure what you want to change 3rd gear to, but changing the planetary gears will give you a 2.76:1 first, and a a1.74:1 second vs 2.46, and 1.46 so you could then run taller gears in the rearends without sacrificing take off power thus making third gear a higher final drive ratio.

that would be nice to have a different third in the C6. mine sounds like she's gonna blow at 75. i know there not meant to go fast but i can't hardly keep up with the guys when i am goin to construction sites. i have to keep my ruberband streched real tight. i'd like to have a .9:1 or somethin along those lines. anything to reduce rpm's a bit would help.

Aaron, Get rid of those 4.10 gears, that will help a lot. Your engine should handle 3.55 ratio and still have plenty of pulling power.

I run a 3.00 behind my 352 FE and pull my 18 ft car hauler with a truck on it just fine. I ran it 175 miles at 70 with the tow dolly behind last week and got 14.8 mpg.

Your setup ought to pull D9 Cats to the site.

i wonder sometimes. i always beat the ricer boys when they wanna race. they always get mad when they have their cute girl friend in the car and they can't keep up between lights. lol. poor saps. they're girls always look my direction and smile then get a straight face on before looking back at their boyfriends. it's great. never seen so mamy chicks look at a redneck instead of a wannabe black guy. lol. aw heck us rednecks treat em better anyways. more gentleman like.
