You have alcohol, drug, food, cigarettes, soda, & many other addictions.
But honesty have you giys heard of the newest addiction that is tearing families apart & hurting children?
I never did until my daughter disturbed me an a sad way which opened my eyes to what I've have become.
I have become a internet junkie, yep a Internet addiction that isn't talked about.
I am not proud of this. If fact I am rather disappointed in myself all together.
My daughter brought up to my attention on Sunday night.
She was crying her little eyes out & I asked her what was wrong.
She proceeded to tell me that she didn't have anyone to play with.
I suggested her little brother.
She had said that he was to busy with his hot wheels & buzz lightyears.
I then said she could play with me.
She said that wouldn't work either.
I asked her why & she said.....
Your always busy on the computer & internet
Nobody hurts my little girl & it seems like I have done this myself. I'm sorry to say this but I'm retiring as site clown. Hopefully King Triton will pick up the throne & carry it so proudly.
I'll probally stop by every now & then, but at this time I gotta go & get to know my kids.
You sir are a good man. If only more folks would take some time to have some quality time with their kids and get to know each other. Share as much time as you can with them, but remember..you also have your needs and FTE is actually a pretty harmless addiction, compared to the other alternatives out here in Networld.
Give your family the time they need and they will give you the time you need.
roger that on the mostly harmless addiction, however my wife says that i am addicted too, so i guess me and parks need to start a group for FTE addicts
My son, my wife, and I are addicted to NASCAR. So Sunday mornings in our house are pretty laid back. But I guess it's still family time so it's not a total waste LOL
My wife says the same thing. Are you coming to bed or sit at the computer all night. Of course I ask what the benefits of each are before I answer. And I end up sitting at the computer. Now that I'm off work, I find myself on the computer alot. This is one of the best sites that I have found to visit. I think many of the others I could get into to much trouble.
Hey Parks, I'm going to miss your hair brain posts. LOL. After the kids go to bed you can always get on then. Whats missing a little sleep. Yes, do spend time with your kids. My job had me on the road most of the week so I missed out alot. Ball games and all. Just always remember to tell them that you love them every night.
I'm glad you are spending more time with your kids. Please look at my other thread and give them a big hug. I am kicking a bad habit that started in my late teens, and the internet is much better(even though I'm not on here much) Go be with your kids, glad you are making the move.
The internet is a very strong addiction - But it is one that is not compulsive, when the computer is gotten rid of. I had a wonderful 5 months without internet, it was wonderful, and I look forward to the next long mission, where I will be away for months... I get a good one every couple of years or so..... So I will wait, addicted to this site, and others, until I once more, have no connection.
My solution (which I don't stick to so well but I don't have kids so who cares) was to get up 30 minutes early each morning and hop onto FTE. I would post any Q's I had and respond to any posts where I had info. I HAD to limit my time to get to work. Then I'd avoid getting online when I got home. Now I have wireless so I'm on 24/7 . . . hey, beats smoking and I can still drink while I post.
Just get your daughter a fourm name and talk to her on it!! haha Oh im kidding.
Naw I will agree its quite addicting. I think ivanribic had a pretty good point though, it beats smoking. If your on the fourm your not smoking. (I would hope nobody smokes in the house)
