Thanks David. I like your setup. I went with the FM 40 Delta Flow 3in inlet and single 3in outlet. I am really happy with the sound, especially under load. No noticeable difference inside the cab but outside is a different story. At idle it has a real deep rumble to it. The muffler shop I went to said they couldn't bend 3in pipe like I wanted it (up under the bed and out of sight, pointed down at the ground) so I had them weld the FM on in place of the stock muffler. I have been very happy with it. I appreciate everyone's input.
I just bought a 2006 F350 with a V10. I hated the stock sound, and after the muffler shop talked me out of a 40 series flowmaster, I went with the SUV 50 series. Now I hate the sound even more. Sounds like a high performance V6. I noticed most of the replies on this site are old. Has anyone had anymore experience putting a flowmaster on a V10. I am looking for, as close to the deep throaty sound that the V8 with a flowmaster delivers.

Without a doubt, the FM Super 40 sounds great and I recommend it. I installed the muffler in place of stock, kept the stock tail pipe and added another tail pipe out the other side to mirror the stock side. Both are 3" pipes. I have no tips yet but I am sure they will only make it better. This set up sounds very similar to my Bronco (351W) set up with just a bit less sound. This is not too lound by any standards and does not have a V6 note to it. For me it is perfect since it is a road vehicle, I did not want near as much sound inside as the Bronco.
IGOTONEFORYADid you just go to a local muffler shop & have all this added? (Price was GREAT!!!) I just converted from a PSD to a V10 and want some added noise to my crew cab longbed as well. I'm like you don't want to have huge noise but a little rumble when you get it would be nice.
I guess what I am looking for is, it sounds as if you just added a FM 40 muffler and then how did you 'create' the dual effect.
thanks
Craig
IGOTONEFORYA, how did you create the second tail pipe? Is the FM 40 you got dual outlet. Did you go with a dual outlet flowmaster? If your V10 sounds that good, I would like to tell my muffler shop exactly what you did. How has it affected your performance.
sound wise out of a v10 it will never sound like a v8 due to the 72 deg fireing order. they have a rice car type sound. it's just a matter of getting used to the crazy sounds. i'm going flow master 70 on mine deep but mellow
CAPTCHAS, have you heard the set up that IGOTONEFORYA talks about. I'm not necessarily looking for loud. What I'm looking for is the deepest sounding flowmaster to put on the V10. Do you think the 70 series will be deeper than the 40 he talks about. My other concern is that the reason my muffler shop talked me out of the 40, was that he was concerned, because of the size of the 40, it would not allow the engine to breathe properly.
Way back when, when I had single exhaust,I tried a 40 Flowmaster and it sounded ok at low rpms, but when the rpm's increased the exhaust sounded restricted.Gave it away in less than a week.I now have 2 Magnaflow's which I think are much better.Although I did not try the Magnaflow on a single pipe.

deeper no. it's a big block muffler . good mellow sound at idle and less back pressure then that 100 pound monster thats stock.
Good day all:
Same boat here with the V10. Tow an 8000 lb. travel trailer, so dual exhaust set up will not be best for me. Single exit with an aftermarket muffler is what I'd prefer; stock 3 inch pipes in and out are plenty large and the HD edition comes with a nice stock tip.
Currently: have replaced stock muffler with Magnaflow 24" straight thru muffler. After 600 miles, have to say, it's "pretty good". Just drones too much at 1500 rpm's when the windows are down. Windows up, totally fine, don't even notice it.
Great sound when on the gas, terrific sound at cruising. We happened to be 4 wheelin' in the woods in 2nd and 3rd gear mostly, windows down, the drone was annoying.
I'd also like to replace this Magnaflow with FM 70 series. My opinion is a straight thru muffler design is not the best way to go with the V10.
Who has the FM 70 series on V10 3 valve right now?
I went to the local muffler shop with a FM Super 40 in hand, 3in inlet and dual 2.5 out. We cut the stock tailpipe and put it over one of the 2.5 outlets and welded it together. The second tailpipe was also 3 inches and welded over the 2.5 outlet. So what I have is a 3inch inlet and dual 2.5 outlets to 3inch tailpipes exiting out the sides. I do not have tips yet. The FM experts only said that this would amplify the current sound, not change it. I can say the change is for the better, as even on the road with family it is not too loud. It breathes better now than stock and gas mileage has not really changed enough to notice. Today's tank netted me 12.2 MPG in town and I am very happy with that. I talked with one guy the has a V10 X and he did not like the FM 70 and went back to stock. Two people have mimicked my exhaust after hearing it. I will see if I can get some pics.
Thanks for the reply igotoneforya. I'm going to try your set up soon. I'm almost embarrased to drive my truck, it sounds so "wimpy." I'll let you all know how it works out.
