Since the weather has cooled down lately - low 40s at night, my driver side power window has slowed down to a crawl. Barely goes up and down - sometimes stops. Anybody else had this problem? Its a 2000 and the pass side works great.
Had the problem with the pass. side on my 99. I sprayed some silicone tire dressing on the window tracks thinking it would help a little until I got around to properly fixing it, well a year and a half later and the window still works great so I haven't actually tried to fix it properly. The silicone tire dressing pretty much solved it for me and if it doesn't work your out like $4.00 for the tire dressing.
I don't know about tire dressing but I've used the standard silicone lubricant and it works. I saturate the fabric guides well and let it dry. I apply it about once a year.
Jerrybo66 - I didn't think to ask you if you remove door panel to do this or just slather it on in the exposed areas. I put some on in the exposed areas and right away saw some improvement but will pull door panel if needed - thanks for all you help.
PWRSTK2K- I also had the problem and used the silicone spray. I put it just in the exposed felt. Worked like a charm. My Pop's D$$$$e also was getting sluggish, we did his and it cured it.
I do just as the Ranger said. I think in time the window drags some of the silicone down the track. Taking off door panels isn't my idea of fun..
. I also use it on the rear window slider, the windows in the cap and the windows in the house. It's pretty good stuff when you need a lubricant and don't want a greasy mess. The stuff I have is made by Prestone. I'm sure you will be pleased with the results.
