Seller's eBay ID is locksmithacedog. I bought one from him based on positive things said on this forum and got the key for about $24 or $25 including shipping, then it cost me all of $2 at a local keyshop to get it cut, programmed it at home that nite with no muss, no fuss. I did learn, however, I could have bought the blank key for about the same price (maybe a buck cheaper) from the same locksmith. He would have charged me programming (for a total of about $50 or so) until I made him aware that it was something the owner could easily do. He seemed surprised. I'll also say that I don't know if his blank had the Ford blue oval.
We sell them at my dealership for $25. And yes that is a Ford key with the blue oval. On the ones we have to hook to WDS to program we charge another $25 to program, but on the few that you can just cycle the keys to program we charge nothing.
On another note, I was kinda mad at first that my '04 F-150 didn't have the blue oval on the original keys, but since my wife drives an '03 SportTrac that has the blue ovals on the keys, it makes it alot easier to tell the keys apart on my key ring.
Now, what I find most amusing is that jdmclemore actually posted the following (in red) on https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=288059 a few weeks back. Hahaha!!! Come on JD, laugh with me here ... all in good fun. It sure will be nice when the SEARCH feature is fixed on this forum.
cbsaf,
Here's the thread you wanna read - there are Ebay sellers selling great keys cheap. You can use your two original keys to program this third key. All for less than $20 or so. Much cheaper than the $80 the dealership will want.
