I have a 1996 Explorer, 6 cyl, 2 WD, automatic trans. It doesn't shift out of first gear unless you put in neutral, hit gas, then back to Drive. After that it usually runs OK and RPM's deop down to accepatble ranges, 2000 or so.
The check engine light came on, the code is P0756, shift solenoid stuck off, which makes sense given what's happening with the Explorer.
Has anyone experienced this? What am I looking at regarding repairs?
Thanks for any help.
Did you find a solution? I have an 01 sport trac that is slow to shift 1-2 3-4. the check engine light is on(I dont have a code). I have removed the pan and changed filter and inspect. the fluid is fine(I have serviced every 15k) and absolutely no signs of debris in pan, I suspect a faulty solonoid(mine has 4 on side of valve body) . I would be interested in knowing what fixed yours!!!
thanks
