I have a '94 Ranger 4.0L v6 auto. trans. and i have been told i needed to replace the Egr valve. I have a Haynes manual and it shows the valve but when i looked on the truck it's no where to be found. Any ideas on location?
I have a '91 Ranger (with CA emissions equipment) and '95 Aerostar, both with the 4.0 and neither has an EGR valve. You may not have one. But, look for a tube coming from the exhaust manifold that goes towards the intake manifold. The tube from the exhaust should lead to the EGR valve, and from there, the exhaust gas goes into the intake. I think (but am not 100% sure on this) that the 4.0 didn't get an EGR until OBD II came along in '95.
