I will be moving there in May 05' I will be driving from CT. to WA to have my truck shipped to Honolulu. Then on to another island to do some construction. Any prep you thing i might need to do to my 2001 F-350 ,7.3 4x4 to adjust from New England to the Tropics? Just looking for some insight?
Thanks.
If your truck is in OK running condition you don't need to do anything special before shipping it to Hawaii. Temperatures there are moderated by the trade winds and it rarely gets to be 90 degrees.
When your truck gets to Hawaii, you will have to get it registered there. Registration requires getting a saftey inspection first and if everything is stock and you have an insurance card, the safety inspection is no problem. If you have any visible aftermarket stuff, you will have to get a "reconstruction permit" before a safety inspection. Since there is only one place to get that permit, this is a hassle.
I miss Hawaii (1965-1990) and will move back to the Big Island when my daughter graduates from college. I have some time as she's just in first grade now.......
