Vacume
Help, my trucks AC turns from vent 2 defrost by itself. ('00 f-250 5.4l) i keep the *** in the max air position but when i get gon b/t 40-45mph it switches from the regular vents to the defrost ones. someone told me it was probly a vacume leek... how do i find this leak??? thanks in advance. Couch

It could be a leak or one of the many devices in the vacuum line failing or opening at the wrong time. There are several delay valves and relays that control the flow of the vacuum. If you lose the vacuum to the heat/AC box it will automatically go to defrost.

Take a look at the area under the glove box. There are several vacuum lines there. A budy of mine hit one of the conections with his shoes and knocked a line loose. All the air went to the defrost vents.
