While driving out to Notre Dame for the game, my engine lost RPM and stopped ahile going 80 mph. Waited 1.5 hours for a tow. Had it brought to Jordan Ford in South Bend so we didn't miss the game. They worked on it all day Friday with no luck. Checked the fuel, cam sensor, and some other stuff. Says the computer is not detecting internal oil pressure. Any ideas... I am 700 miles from home and have a couples of my workers with me stuck in South Bend.

If it is an oil issue that has caused the truck to quit running (rather than simply lock up) it is most certainly on the upper, high pressure side of the oil system. The engine uses oil off the high pressure oil pump (mounted on the rear geartrain) to produce upper oil pressures in excess of 3000 psi in order to fire the fuel injector (HEUI system). If anything in this system fails, the engine will be unable to deliver fuel and will not run. They need to begin service by checking the fuctionality of the ICP (injection control pressure) sensor, and the system pressure. Several things could have happened; the HPOP itself could have failed, a stand pipe could have ruptured (but would most likely have resulted in massive oil leakage) or there is an internal bypass leak somewhere within the oil rail or bypass lines. The most likely culprit is an open failure of the IPR (injection pressure regulator) resulting in the loss of pressure in the upper rails.

Our 04F350 also quit us while towing 5th wheel. It ended being a faulty wiring harness. Took over a week to get parts and fix it. Ford said they had seen a few with this problem. Good luck
the same thing happened to me today. The engine just shut down like it was a electrical problem DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I was about to leave for CO. to go elk hunting and now DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me know what they find with your truck.
