I have a 1993 Ford Ranger 2wd. It's an XLT with the smallest engin they come with, i belive 2.3 liter. I need more horespower for this small 5-speed. Does anyone have some suggestions under 100 dollars?
thank you
P.S. It also for some reason has 8 spark plugs. Does anyone know why Ford did this?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Oct-02 AT 12:14 PM (EST)]Sounds like the dual plug engine (each cylinder has 2 plugs). Theoretically produces improved ignition & combustion characteristics (how much improved?? does anyone know??). For under $100 I suspect there's not alot you can do. However, maybe someone reading this knows of available chips that are reasonably priced.
For that price there isn't much you can do. Underdrive pulley, electric fan and chip would be the best for a noticable gain, I would do and intake and exhaust before a chip since they can program for these mods.
Hey their...there is a lot of things you can do for $100. New air filter and new exaust....Dont go out and buy some fancy chrome stuff. make your ranger have 2 straight pipes. One for each set of headers....It will improve Gas Mileage and and horse power and give it a good sound. I would use cherry bombs for the muffler part or any kind of glass pack.
